Burning River Kennels is located near Platteville, Colorado. Our philosophy is to breed only top quality, true to the Johnson type, American Bulldogs. We are a small kennel that is able to give each dog and puppy individualized care, love and attention. Our goal is to breed healthy, vigorous American Bulldogs with exceptional temperaments.

The essential characteristics of the American Bulldog are those which enable it to work as a hog and cattle catching dog, and a protector of personal property. These tasks require a powerful, agile, confident dog with a large head and powerful jaws. The American Bulldog is a gentle, loving family companion who is also fearless enough to face an angry bull or a human intruder.

In today's world the American Bulldog can be found performing many duties; show dog, pulling dog, protection dog, babysitting the children. American Bulldogs are strong willed and tenacious, and make great companions for active families or owners who can keep up with their athletic natures. Agility, obedience, weight-pulling, tracking, running, hiking, Schutzhund work are all good choices for keeping an American Bulldog in top physical condition as well as mentally fit.
